Her Private Life Korean Drama Review

First off… please don’t take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature and television… Not at all…nada zilch degree. But I love movies books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow. Despite the lack of degree on this area, I will still do this review as a Tv show lover and a TV drama lover…. And just to clarify too, sorry if at some points I might run on with my words or have any grammatical errors… but I will definitely be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.

Moving on… I will first talk about the main leads… Park Min Young and Kim Jae Wook!

Park Min Young is a popular South Korean actress who rose to fame in 2010 coming-of-age historical drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Which was then followed by many projects since…such as 2011 City Hunter, Glory Jane, 2012 Dr. Jin, 2014 A New Leaf, 2015’s Healer which propelled her popularity and recognition for her even more, 2016 Remember: War of the Son, 2017 Queen for Seven Days, 2017’s What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim which also increase her popularity, and her latest project which I am doing this review for 2019’s Her Private Life.

In Her Private Life, Park Min Young plays Sung Deok-mi. Deok-mi is a talented chief curator of the Cheum Museum of Art, who also happens to secretly be a fanatic fangirl of K-POP idol Cha Shi-an of fictional K-POP group White Ocean. And besides that, she is also the fan site manager of his famous fan site “Shi-an is My Life.”

Kim Jae Wook is a South Korean Model and actor. He was best know for his roles in 2007’s hit series Coffee Prince, the 2008 comedy film Antique, 2013 mystery drama Who Are You?, 2017 thriller drama Voice, 2018 The Guest and his latest project which I am doing this review for 2019’s Her Private Life. Jae Wook debuted as an actor in 2002 drama Ruler of Your Own World. But after that he decided to concentrate on his modeling career for 5 years. Then in 2007, he auditioned and won of the role of No Sun-ki in the hit drama series Coffee Prince, with shot him to fame in both South Korea and other Asian countries.

In Her Private Life, Kim Jae Wook plays Ryan Gold. Ryan Gold is a stern artist who develops Stendhal syndrome, leading up to his eventual retirement as an artist but is still active at finding upcoming artists who ended up succeeding well especially after his recommendation. But he eventually becomes the new Art Director of Cheum Museum of Art after the current boss is being investigated for embezzlement.

Anyways, I will first start with the plot of Her Private Life…

Her Private Life is about two people…Sung Seok-mi and Ryan Gold! As I mentioned previously about the main leads.. Sung Deok is a talented chief curator of the Cheum Museum of Art, who also happens to secretly be a fanatic fangirl of K-POP idol Cha Shi-an of fictional K-POP group White Ocean. And besides that she is also the fan site manager of his famous fan site “Shi-an is My Life.” While Ryan Gold is a stern artist who develops Stendhal syndrome, leading up to his eventual retirement as an artist but is still active at finding upcoming artists who ended up succeeding well especially after his recommendation. But he eventually becomes the new Art Director of Cheum Museum of Art after the current boss is being investigated for embezzlement.

Then when dating rumors breakout between Deok-mi and Shi-an due to misunderstood “scandalous pic” during talks of a project leads to eventual collaboration of Cha Shi-an and the Museum. Ryan and Deok-mi pretend to date to ward of Shi-an’s fans who threaten to hurt her. But then Sindy, who happens to be another fan site manager of Cha Shi-an, lands a job at the museum to try to prove that Ryan and Deok-mi are not dating…causing both Ryan and Deok-mi to continue to act like they are dating even on work…making the whole situation much more complicated and messier!

Moving on…I will now give my actual review…

I thought the program was very entertaining! It is hilarious, exciting and romantic! I totally loved the storyline as well as the chemistry of the cast members most especially between the two leads…Park Minyoung and Kim Jaewook!

Park Minyoung and Kim Jaewook are adorable! And undeniably gorgeous individuals with amazing talents in acting! Park Minyoung was absolutely perfect as the classy talented curator who has the secret life of fangirl and fan site manager of Cha Shi-an’s fan site! Kim Jaewook is absolutely magnetic and has this manly sexiness as the stern Ryan Gold. And when the misunderstandings come in and slowly developing feelings for Park Minyoung’s Deok-mi he is so adorable, kind of devious in an amusing way. Such as cool guy! But you feel for his character, because of his sad past. Anyways I will not expound too much on this so I won’t spoil too much, except that the development of his storyline and Deok-mi’s is interesting.

Also, I adored all of the supporting characters! But out of the supporting characters I will mainly focus on in this review I will talk about Cha Shi-an, who is played by Jung Jaewon aka ONE who was at the time of this drama was still YG entertainment artist and actor, but now is a one man agency so he can focus on his music.

In Her Private Life though, Cha Shi-an played by ONE is a popular member of White Ocean who Park Minyoung’s character Deok-mi is a major fan of whom she heads the fan site for. Anyways moving on, I loved ONE’s character here in Her Private Life… so adorable kind and like an angel. I loved the dynamics between him and the two main lead’s characters. Between him as Cha Shi-an and Jaewook as Ryan Gold… they had brother dynamic going on that developed because of their shared interests in finding a specific artist’s works who has a lot to do with personal reasons and/or their past that near the end of the show coincides with the other. Then the dynamic between him as Cha Shi-an and Park Minyoung’s characters two personas…as the curator Deok mi and the secret fan girl / fan site manager of his fan site is also interesting. With his dynamics with both, he has respect for both! With the curator Deok-mi it is respective like an older sister and professional colleague. While with the secret fan girl / fan site manager of his fan site Deok-mi who he is not aware of who she really is…he feels like the fan site manager of his fan site know well and captures his too true essence from the photos she takes…basically he feels she is artist too.

Anyways I will not expound anymore than I already had so I won’t spoil too much, except that overall, I found Her Private Life is something to be looked forward to and to enjoy! It has the perfect mix of all the elements of a romantic comedy including a gorgeous pair, awesome supporting characters and slight hint of drama!

Anyways if you made it up to here… Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review Her Private Life. Hopefully, this review builds your curiosity in checking out Her Private Life!
