How To Keep A Mummy Anime Review
First off… please don’t take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature and television… Not at all…nada zilch degree. But I love movies books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow. Despite the lack of degree on this area, I will still do this review as an anime lover…. And just to clarify too, sorry if at some points I might run on with my words or have any grammatical errors… but I will definitely be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.
Moving on… I will first talk about the main characters of the anime How To Keep A Mummy … Sora Kashiwagi, Tazuki Kamiya, Asa Motegi and Daichi Tachiaki…and the adorable tiny creatures they respectively dote on…Mii-kun, Conny, Isao and Mukumuku.
Sora Kashiwagi is a young man who received a tiny Egyptian mummy named Mii-Kun by his father. When his first receives Mii-kun, he was quite apprehensive of him because the previous gifts from his father were either really scary or troublesome like the cursed dolls and scarecrows he’d received. But he quickly warms to Mii-kun and dotes over him like a parent. He is great at taking care of people, and doing household chores like cooking and sewing. Since helping Mii-kun, he keeps a journal to write down his observations about Mii-kun. His family also keeps a dog named Pochi, which was revealed to be a special dog that can live up to hundred years old. His dad, Mokuren also sends him a talking Anubis sculpture named Aayan.
Mii-kun is the tiny Egyptian mummy, Sora’s dad sent him and dotes on fondly like a father.
Tazuki Kamiya is Sora’s close friend, who is very protective of his loved ones and incredibly frightening when they are threatened. When he first meets Mii-kun, he has a great desire to “mess around”, but later decides that Mii-kun just too cute, but he still occasionally shows a sadistic side and still shows interest in wanting to know what is underneath Mii’s bandage. He is very good at studying and often Sora out. Then on his way home from work, he comes across an oni child but at first his throws him away because he is scared because when he was young, he was unable to save a dragon from a collector which resulted in a trauma. He does name the oni child Conny but doesn’t truly adopt him until a much later episode.
Conny is the playful silly oni-child Tazuki didn’t truly adopt until the later episodes…due to his childhood trauma not being able to save and protect a dragon when he was young.
Asa Motegi is a cheerful girl who is scared of lizards. She is also Sora and Tazuki’s classmate. Her attribute. She gets stronger when she is scared, which is shown by the destruction who caused when she found that a dragon somehow made his way into her house. Sora helps her get over her fear of lizards and she eventually adopts the dragon, naming him Isao.
Isao is the dragon the somehow got into Asa’s home. Despite being thrown out and Asa’s destructively tries to get him away from her and out of her house, all he thought about is if she hurt himself. With the help of Sora, Asa eventually warms up to him and adopts him.
Daichi Tachiaki is a student at Sora’s school in class 5-3. At first, he was seen as a delinquent who tend to have violent outbursts, which was later looked was due to him having chronic nightmares and lack of sleep. Sora then helps him out, which was how their friendship developed and Sora gives him a baku doodle drawing which is a dream-eating creature. A baku then appears to Daichi as an actual living creature, which Daichi warms ups to. He Daichi was able to sleep three days straight to make up for all the loss sleep he got. Once fully rested, Daichi becomes timid and jumpy, but he also takes responsibility for the violence he because when he was sleep-derived. Daichi then adopts and names the baku that help kept the nightmares away from him.
Mukumuku is the name of the baku, the dream-eating creature, that Daichi adopts.
Other characters in How To Keep A Mummy are Kaede Kashiwagi, Mokuren Kashiwagi and Tsukiyo Kamiya…
Kaede Kashiwagi is Sora’s aunt and Mokuren’s sister. She is usually working and has a drastic personality change when she wears her glasses… She would go from soft spoken and clumsy to aggressive and assertive when she wears them…specifically her red rimmed glass. When the sarcophagus that Mii-kun arrived in came…it turned out to be a give from her brother to her which she uses to nap in. She is incredibily famous as a model, director, writer and actress but only a few know how she really looks like due to her glasses.
Mokuren Kashiwagi is Sora’s adventurer father who also sends him odd things from abroad, and those odd things are the main reason why Sora was quite apprehensive when he first Mii-kun. Mokuren’s past gifts to his son included cursed dolls and scarecrows. And he also sends Sora a manual of how to care for the little mummy.
Tsukiyo Kamiya is Tazuki’s outspoken but caring little sister. She is quite familiar Tazuki’s interactions with the oni-child Conny but has little patience for Conny when he takes her sweets.
Now…I will move on to the summary recap of the anime How To Keep A Mummy…
The story first begins when a young man by the name of Sora Kashiwagi, receives a tiny Egyptian mummy named Mii-Kun by his father. When his first receives Mii-kun, he was quite apprehensive of him because the previous gifts from his father were either really scary or troublesome like the cursed dolls and scarecrows he’d received. But not long after, Sora eventually warms up to Mii-kun and treats him as his own. From there is the start of their friendship, the development of their importance to one another, their many adventures and misadventures and the addition of new friends…
Finally, I know this will be short but I will talk about thoughts and overall review on the anime How To Keep A Mummy …
Overall, I thought this anime is so adorably entertaining! Children can watch it too but with parental guidance…but the atmosphere is like watching pokemon but it is not pokemon! LOL!
Anyways, I love all the characters in this anime, especially the oni children and tiny creatures. I most especially enjoy the 4 friends Sora Kashiwagi, Tazuki Kamiya, Asa Motegi and Daichi Tachiaki…and the adorable tiny creatures they respectively dote on…Mii-kun, Conny, Isao and Mukumuku.. Their friendship and care for one another is something to adore and love.
Anyways, this anime is perfect for all ages and you can get some good lessons from this family. Especially the impression I get…I cannot say it is 100%…but the oni children which are similar to pets are basically more than just pets or collections…they are important and are family just as much as we are their whole world.
