First off… please don’t take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature and television… Not at all…nada zilch degree. But I love movies books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow. Despite the lack of degree on this area, I will still do this review as a Tv show lover and a TV drama lover and a book lover…. And just to clarify too, sorry if at some points I might run on with my words or have any grammatical errors… but I will definitely be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.

Now…I will move on a bit about BUSTED!

BUSTED! is a Netflix Original program that is co-produced with SangSang. SangSang is a Korean production company that happens to produce popular Korean variety shows such as  X-ManRunning Man, and Family Outing!

Anyways… BUSTED! is Netflix’s first original program to showcase an all-Korean cast. During a press briefing, its producer Cho Hyo-jin stated that Netflix’s goal is to create a hit show for South Korea, which can then be “consumed on the global stage.” Another interesting tidbit is that the show mixes both scripted and unscripted lines. Scripted for the “drama” scenes when the cast acts like detectives! And  unscripted for the reacting and solving games and puzzles the cast has to solve and the adlibs they make when they tell jokes, decide to do slapstick comedy in between the “drama” scenes.

In BUSTED!, for each episode it features guest celebrities. Unlike other Korean variety show formats, guests for Busted! play characters many of whom have the same names as the celebrities themselves. The characters are somehow involved in the murder mystery in each episode and/or lead the cast to clues for solving the murder mystery.

In season one, the objective and theme of BUSTED! is seven celebrity sleuths discover that they are a part of an operation called Project D, in which they are implanted with a chip containing the DNA of famous detectives throughout history. Led by a man only known as “K” they are recruited as private detectives and are given a new case in each episode, all the while figuring out the mystery behind Project D and its inception.

In season two, the objective and theme of BUSTED! is supposedly one year after the incidents of Season 1, the detectives reunite with a new recruit to unveil the truth of K’s death. With different murder cases that are interconnected, they conclude to search for the murderer named “Flower Killer”.

Finally, I will talk about thoughts and overall review on BUSTED! Korean Variety Show…

Which I will say right of the bat I will clarify, this review with my thoughts will be kind of short but will still be well-thought honest review out to the best of my ability!

BUSTED! is an awesome must watch show! I found it quite fascinating especially since I happen to enjoy mystery / detective programs and/or stories! Love the twists! And how fun it is to guess along and solve the puzzles or watch them solve those puzzles and games!

The BUSTED! cast is just totally awesome! Especially the original BUSTED! cast Yoo Jae-suk,  Ahn Jae-wook, Kim Jong-min, Lee Kwang-soo,  Park Min-young, Oh Se-hun, Kim Se-jeong! Sans Lee Seung-gi since  talented, was great sharp and handsome. Anyways despite that I loved them all even though I can say one of them…particulary Ahn Jae-wook…I haven’t heard of or scene his works before, but I still thought he was interesting too. He was a mixture of serious and adorable awkwardness.  Kim Jong-min is a funny dork. Both Park Minyoung is gorgeous and really intelligent. Both Oh Se-hun and Kim Se-jeong are  funny and charismatic.  And last but definitely not the least two of my favorites cast members from Running Man who are also in the BUSTED! cast…Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Kwang-soo! Lee Kwang-soo as always is hilarious and intense. Yoo Jae-suk is as always hilarious, mixed with leveled headness and wit.  Overall, the BUSTED! cast in my opinion was really well-picked for this variety detective show!

Which leads me to the next agenda on my review…

I found the concept of a Variety Detective Show totally fascinating! Even with the idea in which the show mixes both scripted and unscripted lines. I love that the in the scripted part it is the “drama” scenes when the cast acts like detectives! And as for the unscripted parts, it is when the cast would react naturally learning of the types of games and puzzles, they must solve. Especially when they start solving games and puzzles the cast must solve and the adlibs they make when they tell jokes, decide to do slapstick comedy in between the “drama” scenes. You can tell the games and puzzle solving are unscripted when they make numerous mistakes or their reactions when they try their best to solve them.

I found it awesome too that they had many, too many to name, guest celebrities who really played their roles well in this mixed scripted and unscripted variety detective show!

The one thing I can say is the slow parts can seem to drag a bit but in all honestly I can accept that because when it drags a bit, it is usually in the beginning in every episode when they learn what case they have to solve or when need to recap something carefully… Like a slow intro and/or outro between the climax when things heat up and when you need time for yourself as the viewer to absorb all the happenings in every episode!

But overall, I totally enjoyed this program and I highly recommend it!

Can’t wait and I am so looking forward for Season three!!! 💗🤞🙏🤞💗

Anyways if you made it up to here… Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review of BUSTED! Korean Variety Show! It is such an awesome program that I highly recommend!
