I hope you give this a chance especially since this will be my first ever Thai TV drama review for this month!!! Woohoo! You can say I getting quite into Thai right now while I am waiting for some dramas that have my interest on Viki.com but are not fully available yet because they are locked…Huhuhu…

Anyways been a long time coming and finally presenting my first ever Thai TV drama Review…

Boy For Rent Thai Drama Review

Disclaimer: Pictures of the show, cast are not mine. And just add, info on the cast I got from Wikipedia, DramaList and Asian wiki. ✌️

First off… please don’t take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature and television… Not at all…nada zilch degree. But I love movies books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow. Despite the lack of degree on this area, I will still do this Thai drama review as a Tv show lover and a Thai drama lover…. And just to clarify too, sorry if at some points I might run on with my words or have any grammatical errors… but I will definitely be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.

Oooh… Just a slight tidbit… Boy For Rent is a based on a Thai comic of the same name. And fyi, Boy For Rent can be found in Youtube on the Thai channel GMMTV and it has SUBTITLES!!! Woohoo!

To begin with the review, I will start with the cast… Fon Sananthachat Thanapatpisal, Mond Tanutchai Vijitvongthong, Aye Sarunchana Apisamaimongkol and Lee Thanat Lowkhunsombat…

Fon Sananthachat Thanapatpisal is a popular Thai actress previously known as Chamaiphon Tirasak also known as Fon. She is well known for playing Dao in Hormones: The Series where she made her acting debut. This led to other projects and opportunities for her such as 2013’s ATM 2: Koo ver Error Er Rak, 2014’s Hormones 2, ThirTEEN Terrors,  2015’s Hormones 3, Torfun Kub Marvin, 2016’s Love Songs Love Series: Summer, I Hate You, I Love You,  2017’s U Prince: The Playful Comm-Arts, Water Boyy The Series, Bangkok Rak Stories: PleaseClub Friday Celeb’s Stories : Usurp, 2018’s Muang Maya Live The Series: Sai Luerd Maya, Kiss Me Again and Luead Khon Kon Jang and 2019’s Boy For Rent which this review is focus on. In a non-acting venture, Fon is a proactive vlogger and in 2017 she launched her brand “FOND” which primarily markets ladies footwear.

In Boy For Rent, Fon Sananthachat Thanapatpisal plays Smile. A young woman who is pretty childish and naïve especially when it comes to love, romance and dating.  She has a crush on a handsome senior who she doesn’t know is a major player and loves playing games with people. She confesses to him and he tells her he doesn’t like childish girls…this leads her to hire a “Boy For Rent” to learn how to make a man’s heart beat after discovering a “Boy For Rent” leaflet in her bag.  She ends ups hiring Badz…one of the Top Boys in “Boy For Rent”

Mond Tanutchai Vijitvongthong is a Thai actor, nicknamed Mond.  He is one of the younger brothers of actress Mint Chalida Vijivongthong. He first debuted in 2017’s Water Boyy The Series as a supporting role, which was then followed by his first main role in Fabulous 30 and another main role 2018’s Kiss Me Again and a supporting role in The Judgement.  In 2019, he got the main role in Boy For Rent, which this review is focus on. His most recent project is 2019’s Plara Song Krueng as a supporting role.

In Boy For Rent, Mond Tanutchai Vijitvongthong plays Badz. He is the Hot Male and leading go-to male actor of Communication Arts department.  He also at the side is working as a Boy For Rent. But he did not willing want to work as a Boy For Rent…  He is trying to pay off his youngest sister’s debt for using the Boy For Rent services… He cannot and would not tell his girlfriend Liz, causing even more strain, misunderstanding and disappointment between them…Especially since it is hard enough that even though they deeply care for eachother and both love singing…but they don’t share they same interests… Also even if Badz does want to tell Liz his troubles, he can’t because as a contracted Boy For Rent, he cannot tell anymore that he is working for them.  He ends up having Smiles as his client…

Aye Sarunchana Apisamaimongkol is a Thai actress, nicknamed Aye. She is a member of the girl group “SISSY” along with Jan Ployshompoo, Jane Ramida and Clize Apichaya. She made her acting debut in 2015’s Wonder Teacher The Series which was followed by her supporting role in Room Alone 2: The Series. She then had her first main role in 2016’s Raeng Chang. She had other projects too, like in 2017’s Love Songs Love Series To Be Continued: Close Friend, Love Books Love Series: Mister Daddy, 2018’s Friend Zone, 2019’s A Gift to the People You Hate and Boy For Rent which this review is focused on.   Her upcoming projects are Friend Zone 2: Dangerous Area and A Tale of Thousand Stars.

In Boy For Rent, Aye Sarunchana Apisamaimongkol plays Liz. Liz is a young woman who especially after her from a friend’s friend of seeing her boyfriend Badz hanging with other girls… She believes her boyfriend Badz is cheating on her, and decides to use the Boy For Rent service to get back at him without feeling guilty… She rents Kyro who keeps on following her around…offering his services… She was also aware of Boy For Rent because Smiles accidently dropped her flyer for it, and they fought over it.

Lee Thanat Lowkhunsombat is a talented Thai actor and model.  Hee was the winner of Finding U-Prince Project, which led to his acting debut in the U-Prince Series and taking the lead role in U-Prince: The Badly Politics paired with popular Thai actress Mild Lapassalan Jiravechsoontornkul. U-Prince led to more projects and opportunities for him such as a main roles in 2017’s the Secret Seven: The Series, My Dear Loser Series: Monster Romance, 2018’s Friend Zone, 2019’s Friend Zone 2, Club Friday The Series: Season 11Boy For Rent which this review is focus on, as well as 2019’s Endless Love (adapted from the Taiwanese version), and his upcoming project 2020’s Wake Up Ladies 2: Very Complicated.

In Boy For Rent, Lee Thanat Lowkhunsombat plays Kyro. Kyro is the co-founder of Boy For Rent.  He is also on of the Top Boys in Boy For Rent. He loves women but what he loves even more is playing games… He is very aware that Smiles likes him but he tells her he doesn’t like childish girls causing her to turn to Boy For Rent for help… Not knowing that he is a Boy For Rent as well… Kyro also has tension with Badz, a fellow Boy For Rent, leading him to play games with Liz…whom attracted his attention because she doesn’t and would not give in to him but he does influencd eer to use his services since she believes Badz is cheating on her and wants to use the Boy For Rent service to get back at him without feeling guilty…

Since I am planning on going all out with my thoughts for this Thai Drama Boy For Rent

I will just give the main plot before I get straight into my review…

Boy For Rent is a Thai Drama about two young women who use Boy For Rent for their personal issues…

Smile and Liz…

Smile has a crush on her handsome senior, Kyro, but when she confesses to him….he refuses her, telling her he doesn’t like childish girls. Smile decides to hire a “Boy For Rent” to learn how to make a man’s heart beat…. Most especially after discovering the “Boy For Rent” leaflet mysteriously in her bag…

Liz on the other hand… believes her boyfriend Badz is cheating on her, and decides to use the Boy For Rent service to get back at him without feeling guilty…

Neither knows that renting a man will change their lives forever…

…Especially since Smile gets Badz assigned to her…

While Liz gets Kyro, who had in fact been influencing her to use his services…

Anyways…

Now I will really start this review…

Okay first off…I want to say that Boy For Rent is an interesting Thai drama but it can just quite frustrating…

Don’t get me wrong I liked it, I thought is decent and was still entertained by it but this drama I recommend it in a sense of…

Watch it at your own risk…

Why? You may ask?…

Well…

Let me explain in this review…

First off, I want to clarify that I mean no offense… I just want to give a honest review and also say that even though I am not for it,  I have nothing against people who are in the sex industry… Especially since we don’t know a person’s circumstances on why they are in the industry…if the had no choice, force to,etc whether their reason may be…  May not approve their way of earning a living, but I will not judge someone and berate them for being part of the sex industry.

Anyways back to the review…

Boy For Rent is basically mixed Prostitution / Escort Services but with males giving the services… And depending on the males in Boy For Rent…they will give their client the services under the negotiated, contracted time the clients want.  The client could request for a wholesome date, to experiencing what it is like to have a boyfriend, to have someone to party with, or something quite intimate…

In Smiles case, we know that she really likes Kyro and wants to learn how to make a guy’s heartbeat and not be considered childish anymore…mainly because of Kyro. While Liz, who believes Badz is cheating on her and wants to use the Boy For Rent service to get back at him without feeling guilty…

The head of Boy Rent, Jayden…played by Victor Chatchawit Techarukpong… after knowing the type of services the client wants… then, selects the perfect boy who can help the client get the service they want… Smiles got Badz… While Liz got Kyro…well after much influence….

Anyways I got to say…it is always nice seeing Victor Chatchawit Techarukpong… the last show I saw him in was  in U-Prince Series… Which, by the way I posted a review of a while back… I am planning on making another review of that both more in depth… and this time each U-Prince story…one by one… Still thinking about it though…since I felt my overall review of the U-Prince Series…was more on ranking the 12 stories in the series…then an actual review… So, will likely make more reviews out of U-Prince… I recommend it by the way… Also on GMMTV YT channel…

Back to Victor Chatchawit Techarukpong as Jayden in Boy For Rent… I thought he was amazing! Yes, he is, you can say… the main antagonist especially after we learn more about about Badz and Kyro and their respective situations… But Victor, hands down is someone is look forward to in Boy For Rent as a somewhat hot, manipulative, sleezy guy… Especially since the last I saw him was in U-Prince : The Badass Baker…he was cold, has a slight ocd but romantic, gorgeous and sexy. And last I heard, he was dating his leading lady in in U-Prince : The Badass Baker… Piglet CharadaImraporn! Awww, totally shipping them! My heart! 🥰

Anyways…

Now, moving on, back to the for main characters for Boy For Rent …Smiles, Badz, Liz and Kyro…

All four are attractive individuals, but they can frustrate you…

Smiles is so childish, naïve and annoying! She whines and acts like a cross between a child and preteen most of the time… Don’t get me wrong she can be sweet, fluffy cute and adorable that you would want to pinch her cheeks and put her in your pocket…. But there are times you can’t help but want to shake her and yell, “Girl, what’s wrong with you?! You’re in college already…” She also has no sense of preservation when it comes to danger and it is like danger is attracted to her too… Literally a danger magnet! It either she finds it or it finds her… I feel sorry for her for the number of times she gets taken advantage of and nearly raped in almost every episode… Near the end of the drama…it does seem like she matured a bit and things got better for her…  Yet, I feel that her best friend who wasn’t totally supportive of her at first…and most especially Badz around, she will slowly but surely grow into a mature at least mature enough for her age…

Fon Sananthachat Thanapatpisal on the other hand, who plays Smiles… I thought she played her role exceptionally well and feel that she is an exceptionally talented actress! She is an effective Smile…since I as a viewer was totally affective by her character’s childishness but also very sympathetic and concerned for her.

Now Badz…best I could say is the “better guy” in my opinion between him and Kyro. My tick though is he could’ve solved all his problems he has with Liz and clear up that her misconception of him cheating on her but telling her is trying to pay off his youngest sister’s debt for using the Boy For Rent services…by working as a Boy Rent because he doesn’t have a choice.  Also that he couldn’t tell her that either because it is in his contract… But then again I understand why he didn’t tell Liz because he doesn’t want her to get her and to get involve into something like that… Especially since the Boy For Rent services including the head and goons seem to be really shady and act like loan sharks…  Anyways I feel that if Smile and Kyro weren’t involve and even if Badz did tell Liz everything…I feel that Badz and Liz would still eventually break up because of the flashbacks on how different they are to the other, since they don’t take and brush off the other’s interest…. Mainly Liz part…actually doesn’t take interest in his likes. Badz’s strong points, he is not a total jerk, since he seems to be more gentlemanly… He rescues Smiles a couples times even before he realizes that he is attractive to her and he is a doting responsible older brother. Also, cannot completely say this is a strong point but…before Smiles came along…he refuses to get very intimate with his clients. He dates them but no kissing, and he doesn’t touch them very intimately and doesn’t sleep with them… Although like I said, cannot completely say it is a strong point…

On Mond Tanutchai Vijitvongthong who plays Badz…  I thought he played exceptionally well. He is talented actor! And it is refreshing to see him play a main role since I don’t see him play too many lead roles since he usually plays either a support or minor role. But then again…I’ve only started watching Thai programs a year ago… And just to add as a side note…he got gorgeous body… I won’t be surprised if in his contract he is supposed to take his shirt off multiple times in the drama… Don’t get me wrong… He is an eye candy… 🔥🔥🔥 LOL

Anyways moving on to…

Liz…she is really messed up…up but you can’t help but feel sympathy for her.  Liz is a beautiful talented young woman but wants to use the Boy For Rent service to get back at Badz without feeling guilty because she believes he is cheating on her…. She could have simply clear things up by confronting him. But then again it still depends on Badz if he will tell her everything since he is under contract not to say anything of the shady Boy For Rent business that in sister pulled him in with her massive debt… But I understand her insecurities…especially since she is also deeply affected by her family situation that I will not expounded. Strong points… she is strong and independent!

On Aye Sarunchana Apisamaimongkol who plays Liz… she is multi-talented. I thought she played her role well too!

Finally…Kyro… He, like Liz, is all messed up and his family issues have something to do with why he became messed up. He is handsome and talented, really knows how to attract women…but…he is actually cold-hearted and a player who loves playing games with people.  He has tension with Badz, a fellow Boy For Rent, leading him to play games with Liz…whom attracted his attention because she doesn’t and would not give in to him but he does influencd her to use his services since she believes Badz is cheating on her and wants to use the Boy For Rent service to get back at Badz without feeling guilty…  Strong point…he slowly changed for the better, especially because of his growing feelings for Liz…

On Lee Thanat Lowkhunsombat who plays Kyro…  I put him on the same level as actress Mild Lapassalan Jiravechsoontornkul who played Lookkaew in The Judgement drama and Thannam in Happy Birthday…both reviews for those dramas are up on my website. Please go check them out.

Anyways…back to Lee Thanat… he like Mild  is undeniably an amazing, talented, young upcoming actor. I thought that he played his role very well, expressing her character’s emotions well…even though I did not particularly like his character…but his character grew on me. Lee deserves being known as one of the most sought-after actor in Thailand.. Interestingly enough, Mild was his first pair up in his acting debut in U-Prince : The Badly Politics!

Anyways now… On the pairings… Fon and Mond … Lee Thanat and Aye… I thought they all look great individually and according to their pair-ups in Boy For Rent…

Fon and Mond, as Smiles and Badz are a mixture of fluffiness and steamy…because of the attraction between them but holding back because Badz still had Liz as his girlfriend even though they were considered to be on a break during the time he was giving Smiles lessons on how to date and make a guy’s heart beat… They are kindred spirits with similar interests!

Lee Thanat and Aye, as Kyro and Liz… Their relationship…although started with much influence, bettings and playing games… It developed into almost serious, same vibe, soulmate-like relationship especially since both love performing and since and both have family issues… They are also kindred spirits with similar interests!

Either way…it’s interesting how all four relate to eachother or have come across eachother at one point. In the beginning, it was Smiles and Kyro… Badz and Liz… And in the end, it became Smiles and Badz… Kyro and Liz…  It’s like fate played a role and it all started with the Boy For Rent flyer…

Anyways, overall…Boy For Rent is an interesting, decent Thai drama but it can just quite frustrating…

I recommend it in a sense of…

Watch At Your Own Risk….

Anyways if you made it up to here… Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review on the Boy For Rent Thai Drama series. Hopefully this review gets you interested in Boy For Rent and in Thai dramas and shows!

As I mentioned before, Boy For Rent can be found in Youtube on the Thai channel GMMTV.  And that there is no English sub yet for a couple of episodes in the show…mainly the a couple of the middle episodes yet the beginning few and last couples episodes of this show has English subs. Still worth it in my opinion though, because I liked this drama despite how horrible the antagonists were… Anyways I highly recommend Boy For Rent.
