Leh Ratree Thai Drama Lakorn Review

Hello again, I hope all of you are doing well and are safe…

Anyways…

I’ve binge watched this Thai drama this past week…  and I made sure that I gave all of my thoughts on this…especially since this is in my 1st ever Thai series/drama/lakorn review for the month of JULY!!!

Woohoo!!!

Been a long time coming and finally presenting…

Leh Ratree Thai Drama Lakorn Review

Disclaimer: Pictures of the show, cast are not mine. Got them online. And just add, info on the cast I got from Wikipedia, MyDramaList and Asian wiki.✌️

This Lee Ratree was first broadcasted at March 2015! It is also known as A Woman’s Trickery and Love’s Trickery and it can be found on Dailymotion and one31 channel in Youtube!

Anyways…

First off… please do not take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature, and television… But I do LOVE movies, books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow.

And…

Despite the lack of degree, I will still do this Thai TV Series review as a Tv show lover and a Thai TV series lover…. And just to clarify too, I apologize for any run-ons or any grammatical errors… But I will definitely be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.

Anyways…

I will now talk about the main characters of Leh Ratree… Esther Supreeleela, Sean Jindachote, Jespipat Tilapornputt and Keerati Mahapreukpong…

Esther Supreeleela is a popular Thai-Malaysian actress. She’s currently dating fellow actor and model Ken Phupoom Phongpanu. She is Christian. Esther attended Bangkok Thonburi University.

In Leh Ratree, Esther Supreeleela plays Kate Patarin, a lovely young woman who leads a simple but comfortable life close to her family and her “fiancé” / bestfriend that lives next door to her while going to school and working as a model. Til one day, everything changed when her father gets caught embezzling money from Empire Mall, the company he works for, to settle his gambling addiction and debts…

Sean Jindachot is a Thai actor and model. His older sister is actress and model Ploy Jindachot. He’s a freelance actor, but mostly works for One HD.

In Leh Ratree, Sean Jindachote plays Saek Suthakarn, the President of the Empire Mall. He is considered as the only heir to the family company since his younger sister Pa is adopted and he is married to his life Itsaya…whom he is deeply in love with…Unfortunately for Sake…everything is not what it seems…Itsaya lied to Sake that she was pregnant and to get away with it she also lied about miscarrying…which he soon finds out including an important detail that was not revealed until his mother and sister got involved. Betrayed, blindsided and hurt…thus leading to their separation and his making his motions to divorce Itsaya… Around the same time, Saek learns of Kate’s father’s betrayal of committing embezzlement in his company… And after a couple of mishaps and situations, led to his and Kate’s current predicament…

Jespipat Tilapornputt is a Thai actor. His first leading role in a lakorn was in “Cheewit Puer Kah Huajai Puer Tur”, starring alongside Monchanok Saengchaipiangpen.

In Leh Ratree, Jespipat Tilapornputt plays Pu aka Satyu, the childhood bestfriend/boyfriend of Kate, whom she had to break-up with to proceed with the deal with Saek’s family of being their baby carrier. Around the same time with Kate’s situation, he meets Pa who is Saek’s sister, as a client whom he is assisting with her plans on opening as amusement park…. They soon became good friends despite the complicated situation of Kate and Saek’s… Not long after, things starts getting complicated between him and Pa as well…

Keerati Mahapreukpong is a Thai actress and singer. Her other work includes ads for Kendo, Sugus, True Move, Pizza Hut, and Vita. She studied at Chulalongkorn University (Faculty of Communication Arts). Gypsy has a younger sister, actress Gypso Ramita Mahapreukpong.

In Leh Ratree, Gypsy Keerati Mahapreukpong plays Pakinee or Pa, Saek’s adoptive sister, but is still considered precious, even though her brother Saek is considered the only heir to the family company. Pa is a wise woman and like her mother, dislikes Saek’s wife Itsaya… She and her mom, wants Saek to have a child, but soon became suspicious as to why after so long into the marriage, Saek and his wife hadn’t have a baby yet… So Pa and her mom, pushed Itsaya to go to doctor affiliated by their family, and learns of Itsaya’s secret which is a betrayal to Saek… Like Saek, around the same time they learn of Kate’s father’s embezzlement in their company…. And not long after, they accept Kate’s father’s offer to settle his debts with them which involves Kate… Around the same, she meets Pu who is Kate’s childhood sweetheart fiance, as his client…. They soon became good friends despite the complicated situation of Kate and Saek’s… Not long after, things starts getting complicated between her and Pu as well…

Now I will proceed with the summary of the beginning of the story of Leh Ratree

Leh Ratree is about a lovely young woman named Kate who grew up with her mother, stepdad, half brother and half sister and two housemaids. She also lives next door to her boyfriend Poo… She is living a peaceful simple life…

While Sake, is considered as the only heir to the family company since his younger sister Pa is adopted and he is married to his life Itsaya…whom he is deeply in love with…

Unfortunately for Sake…everything is not what it seems…

Itsaya lied to Sake that she was pregnant and to get away with it she also lied about miscarrying.

Sake, unaware of her deception, was devastated over the lost of their baby, loves her too much to let her go. Even though his mother has a major dislike of Itsaya because she sees her for what she truly is, a gold digger… his mother keeps on nagging them about getting an heir for the family company…

One day…

Sake’s company was making an advertisement and needed a model, so Kate’s stepfather who was their company’s employee at the time…. asked for Kate to take the job. Kate and Sake meet and right away they do not get along well because Kate gets into other people’s business….

But, Sake starts to like Kate a bit but he’s still married to Itsaya and Kate is still with her childhood friend Poo.

Not longer after, Sake’s mother starts to get suspicious as to why Itsaya isn’t having a baby yet… So, Pa and Sake’s mother trick Itsaya to go the hospital to get her checked up. Turns out, And they learn that  Itsaya isn’t able to have kids because she doesn’t have a uterus anymore… And they told Sake the truth which made Sake angry and sad that he was so stupid to fall for a woman like her and may never fall in love again…

And so, they kick Itsaya out while she screams that they will regret it and she’ll do anything to get Sake back…

Meanwhile…

Kate’s stepdad owes a lot of money after losing money due to his gambling addiction. So, he decides to steal money from Sake’s company to pay off his debt so no harm could come to him and his family…

Sake, who is having a really hard time trying to get over Itsaya and taking care of the company at the same time he finds out about what Kate’s stepdad did and is furious!

So now, Kate’s stepdad is on the run from the people he owes money to and from Sake. Kate’s stepdad gets shot from the casino’s loan sharks and ends up in the hospital where Sake and his family along with cops find him. Before they could arrest him, he makes a deal with them that in exchange for the money, they can have Kate as baby carrier since he knows what Sake’s family want most is heir …

When Kate’s mom finds out she is furious but after some time she decides to send Kate to them withholding the truth about why Kate is going to Sake’s house…

When Kate finally learns the truth about why she must go to their house she gets upset and runs to her stepdad. She reminisces with her stepdad about the times he took care of her when she was a little girl because her real dad couldn’t and decides to go along for all of the things that her stepdad has done for her.

Kate then tell Poo but knows that he won’t take the news well, so she decides not to until the baby is already born…

Meanwhile, Poo meets Pa for the first time as his client and they immediately do not get along… Poo oversees the production of Pa’s project for an amusement area and they have to work together, they slowly develop a friendship…

Not long after, Poo finds out where Kate is and her situation and he rushes to the Sake’s house, argues with Sake and demands to take Kate back but she refuses him…Sake then advise Poo to not fall for women so easily and that Kate is only there is because of money and that she doesn’t love him. When Kate still refuses to leave with him, Poo leaves angrily and Pa follows him to take care of him…

Sake’s mother makes Kate work as Sake’s secretary where they do not get along…

Soon they start falling for each other, but things are not easy when Poo keeps wanting Kate and Itsaya is doing anything to get Sake back and another rival enters the picture…

Moving on now with my actual review…

Anyways…

Here it goes…

First off, Leh Ratree has two versions… The 2004 version and the 2015 version. I watched the 2015  Leh Ratree version with Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote as the main leads…

Also, as I mentioned before, is also known as A Woman’s Trickery and Love’s Trickery

I will try not to expound too much and will keeps this as short as I possibly can so I won’t spoil anything even though I most likely did in the characters section and summary recap of this report…

Anyways…

Leh Ratree is such an interesting and somewhat well-thought out Thai drama in my opinion!

It brought many emotions out of me…. I was happy, then irritated, sad, disappointed, then amused, then giddy, then annoyed, angry, then giddy again! Oh my!..It was almost a roller coaster…but not exactly…because it was manageable…especially since there weren’t too many antagonists in the story…

Anyways…

I found Leh Ratree interesting because of how the writers has blended in a couple of themes to tell the story…

Such as the concept of…

Love-Hate Relationships…

Children Settling Parent’s debts…

Baby Carriers…

“Marriage” of Convenience…

Love versus Trust…

Love versus Money…

One Sided Love…

And Friendship turned to Love, etc etc…

Like I said, I found it interesting how the writers has blended in these themes in Leh Ratree

Especially since the main plot is about a pair who aren’t at all romantically involved with eachother are to form some kind of bond since they are to have a baby together after the deal thought of by the main girl’s father in order to pay for his debts against the guy’s family… So basically, the eldest daughter, who is in fact actually a step child, has to pay for the father’s debts by becoming a baby carrier for the main guy’s family….  While the  main guy’s family want an heir from the guy, since his ex-wife turned out to have deceived and wrong main guy and in the process of dissolving his marriage with his ex-wife while developing a bond with his baby carrier…

Of course, with all that in mind, just having a child or bringing a child to the world, doesn’t end there cause with a baby added to their dynamics someday… will change their lives and will greatly affect them individually, their relationship with each other and with those around them because having a baby is a precious responsibility that usually is made out of love…

In Leh Ratree, in our main characters’ case…Kate and Sake…a baby made from love is not the case…at first *hint hint*…spoiler alert…

Anyways…

Like I mentioned earlier, Kate and Sake aren’t romantically involved in the first place and everything was a deal made out of paying debts and / or having some kind of personal interest in having the deal…

Although, Kate and Sake had run-ins before the deal was made… They did have tension and slight attraction between them that they obviously did not have with their respective partners at the time…  They basically brush whether tension off after the run-ins… but every run-in usually Sake teasing Kate, and Kate running off, crying or irritated.

But then…things happen that soon lead to their complex situation…the deal of having a baby together to help Kate’s dad pay for his debts and for Sake’s family to have a heir…   Add to that already complex situation…Sake’s ex-wife who not only wants Sake back but revenge against his family and Kate’s childhood bestfriend/ ex-fiance who doesn’t want to let her go…at first…*another hint hint*

Anyways either way, our main characters’ situation is both tricky and complicated! Also at the same time… morals and legal issues are in question over their complicated situation… Since it is not really infidelity because of their situation especially with Sake’s ex-wife’s involvement, but in the eyes of others it is… But you have to see the drama to know how the writers tackled that… I found it interesting…

But then again, also in their case, Kate and Sake’s, our main characters also had the condition to first get to know each other and to work together at Sake’s family company before proceeding their families’ agreement with the unnatural means of procreation such as “artificial insemination”…  In the progress of their bonding…it slowly turned into something more… This condition by the way was at the suggestion of Sake’s family…his mother and his sister…whom I will mention a bit more later…

For now, I want to mention what I was not fond of…

Like mentioned back in my earlier Thai drama reviews…specifically…Hua Jai Sila, which is an awesome drama by the way! Hands down!

Anyways… as I was saying….like Hua Jai Sila…. Leh Ratree it shares one main thing that I was not fond of in the lakorns I’ve watched so far… even though like Hua Jai Sila…this Thai Drama Leh Ratree is definitely one of my favorite Lakorns!

Anyways…that main thing, I was not fond of which is the only downside for me even though I know Leh Ratree is considered a Slap Kiss drama… I am not fond of the man handling, the grabbing and aggressive actions made by the male leads upon the female leads…which I notice in the lakorns I’ve watched so far…  Not trying to be offensive but that part just makes me uncomfortable… I know for sure that I will likely never get used that! It is a con for me.

I don’t approve of manhandling but despite that, I do like Thai dramas and will continue to like them, I know for sure that will not change…will expound more later…

But back to my review…I got to say…the chemistry between the main leads… Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote is undeniable! Very intense! The banter between them was fun, amusing to watch but also quite steamy because you can feel the tension between them… The growing attraction they have for eachother or at least the attraction they don’t want to admit they have for one another.

I so love this pair-up! Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote!

And interestingly enough…. Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote were paired in another Thai Series I’ve reviewed last year…Ugly Duckling: Boy’s Paradise! Which was also released the same year as Leh Ratree…2015!

Honestly, Ugly Duckling: Boy’s Paradise was not my favorite Ugly Duckling story so I did not really give Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote pair-up there much thought, even though I did thought they will the type of pair that grows on you… But because the storyline was not well executed in my opinion…like I mentioned before, I did not really give Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote pair-up there much thought there…

Still enjoyed that Ugly Duckling series though, which I am planning to make a more in-depth review of in the future…since the last one was more condensed and more of a rating each Ugly Duckling story than an actual review…

But anyways…as I was saying, unlike in Ugly Duckling: Boy’s Paradise…. here in Leh Ratree, Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote…is just Wow!!! They are both talented have an amazing chemistry that was well pronounced especially with a complex storyline and themes used! I felt like both Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote got deep into their acting more especially since Leh Ratree has a deeper, mature and much more dramatic storyline. In Leh Ratree, Esther is charming and lovely while Sean was handsome and intense.

I also enjoyed the second pair of Leh Ratree…Pu and Pa! My goodness! Started out as an unlikely friendship, with interesting ties to Kate and Sake respectively…. And then Pu and Pa’s relationship hits a major bump that can lead them to the next level…or ruin what they already have…

On the second leads who plays Pu and Pa… Jespipat Tilapornputt and Keerati Mahapreukpong aka Gypsy… They are also talented and have amazing chemistry… I love how playful their characters were with each other especially since Jes’ Pu was trying to get Gypsy’s Pa out of her shell and get her to understand the concept of having fun because Pa is aiming to open an amusement park in the story but she is too stiff and proper… I was wrong about Pu and ended up liking his character even though he was kind of slow and an emotion-driven person, because at first I assumed he would be an annoying rival that will  somehow end up with Pa, but turns out he is not really the one Sake has to protect Kate from…and Pu is actually someone who learns as he goes even though he is a bit slow on the pick up and like I said emotion-driven.   Pa on the other hand, I totally adored especially when she combines forces and minds with her and Sake’s mom against Itsaya, Sake’s ex-wife, my goodness they make a badass team that knows how to play chess against gold diggers!

On the others…I felt the supporting and minor characters did well in their roles whether they are their to guide the main leads or give them trouble…

Anyways…

What I like about Lakorns I’ve watched so far…Hua Jai Sila, Happy Birthday, Bai Mai Tee Plid Plew, The Judgement and now Leh Ratree…. The writers of lakorns, ability to use complex storyline and themes that can be quite controversial or complicated but still be well executed and can bring a roller coaster of emotions out of you! And this in why I will continue to like Thai dramas / lakorns despite disliking the manhandling in them… Of course, I don’t approve of manhandling…but despite that I will continue watching Thai dramas just to see their take on complicated and controversial themes…

This now brings me to what is driving me up the wall…

…The theme of the Children having to pay the Parent’s debts…

One deep breath…

I was disappointed with the dad already for getting consumed by his gambling addiction that he ended up embezzling from Sake’s family company… Then I ended up getting upset that he runs away letting his family deal with both the loan sharks from the casino and Sake coming after him for embezzling from the company…

His family especially Kate, who is his stepdaughter but who truly loves him as her dad, doesn’t believe he could do such a thing…but the father’s family…Kate included… gets into trouble several times because of the situation the father caused… 0ne time when Sake barged into their home and the other when loan sharks nearly kidnaps both Kate and her stepsister…which coincidently enough, Sake and his group happens to save them…

I was already upset enough that the children, even though they are not kids anymore, nearly had to pay for the dad’s debts with much harassment especially from the loan sharks…and the major relief that Kate and her sister was able to escape from the loan sharks because who knows what those goons will make them do to pay off their father’s debts!

But who knew things would get worse with the dad’s betrayal added to the mix…

The dad only gets caught because he had to go to the hospital…leading to the thing that totally pissed me off…. In order to get out of his situation, he was the one who proposed to Sake and his family that he will give them Kate to become their baby carrier because he knows they want the heir if they forgive him for the embezzlement and help him pay off his debts to the loan sharks…

That was a big “What The” moment to me…and made me really upset with the dad…  I know Kate is his step daughter and not his blood daughter but that is still a not excuse because she is STILL his family and she loves him like her real dad because he obviously took care of her too. Kate unaware of her stepdad’s betrayal…is than brought to Sake’sfamily by her own mother! Double betrayal! Cause she is only made aware of the situation once there at Sake’s!

Now I just want to comment as an afterthough, I know what I am about to say is mean but the father’s blood daughter and the youngest is as selfish brat! She only cares about herself and becoming famous and rich. She was annoying. Total opposite from Kate and even her real brother. There wasn’t much character development on her, cause even though she sort of changed in the end… well… you have see the drama to see what I mean…

The father is unbelievable! What he did is despicable and makes him the type that shouldn’t be trusted. In a way, the father does get his karma…although terrible way to get his karma as a sickness…but at least that pushed him to become a better person in the latter part of the lakorn…

Anyways, Leh Ratree 2015 with Esther Supreeleela and Sean Jindachote is an awesome Thai lakorn!  Definitely high on my recommend list! If available somewhere I would try to see the 2004 version… But for now, I recommend you all to check out Leh Ratree 2015!
