Neung Nai Suang Thai Drama Series Review

Hello…it’s been a while…😅✌

Happy Holidays y’all! 🎊☃️🎊

Hope you all of you are doing well and are safe…and had a wonderful blessed Christmas!

Anyways…

I’ve binge watched this Thai drama this past week…  and I made sure that I gave all of my thoughts on this…especially since this is in my 1st ever Thai series/drama review in a long time especially for the month of DECEMBER with the New Year’s around the corner!!!…

Woohoo!!!

Been a long time coming and finally presenting…

Neung Nai Suang Thai Drama Series Review

Disclaimer: Pictures of the show, cast are not mine. And just add, info on the cast I got from Wikipedia, MyDramaList and Asian wiki.✌️

Neung Nai Suang  Means “Only You in My Heart” or “One in My Heart.” And it is a Thai television drama series that aired from May 28 to July 8, 2015.

Anyways…

First off… please do not take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature, and television… But I do LOVE movies, books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow.

And…

Despite the lack of degree, I will still do this Thai TV Series review as a Tv show lover and a Thai TV series lover…. And just to clarify too, I apologize for any run-ons or any grammatical errors… But I will definitely be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.

Anyways…

I will now talk about the main leads of Neung Nai Suang…Jirayu Tangsrisuk and Urassaya Sperbund…who are the Childhood Enemies Turned Lovers!

Jirayu Tangsrisuk who better known by his nickname James, is a popular Thai actor. He was recruited into the entertainment industry by Meta Talent Management Agency founder, Charnchalard “Pik” Dhaweesap (Charnchalard Dhaweesap), who saw James’ photos on Facebook and has since become his personal manager. He starred in many Thai dramas as well as the popular Thai drama Game Sanaeha

In Neung Nai Suang, Jirayu Tangsrisuk plays Nueng / Anawat

Urassaya Sperbund  is a half Thai/Norwegian actress. She entered the industry in 2008 but it wasn’t until 2010 where she gained immense popularity and created a name for herself with her portrayal of the fearless and daring Jeed in Duang Jai Akkanee. Her acting and pairing with co-star Nadech Kugimiya attracted so many fans across the country where the two are now one of the most popular koo kwans of this generation. She has the reputation of an adorable lead actress who is very prim and proper thus being valued as a good role model. Yaya has further developed her acting abilities and position in the entertainment industry with her role of Jeerawat in popular remake Kleun Cheewit, which earned her the Best Actress award. She is the first Thai actress who received a title of Friends of Louis Vuitton and became the first Thai celebrity featured in US Vogue.

In Neung Nai Suang, Urassaya Sperbund plays Hatairach Urassaya Sperbund/ Poom

Now I will proceed with the summary of the beginning of the story of Neung Nai Suang

Neung Nai Suang is about Poom aka Hatairach, a beautiful girl who has no parents because she lost them when she was young…and was adopted by a good rich family instantly gaining a great pair of siblings, Pu and Paen…

Neung aka Anawat is a handsome son of a former renowned diplomat that just came back from studying overseas. Every girl wants to get to know him.

Both Poom and Neung attend a party separately…

But after the first glance, Neung falls in love with Poom straightaway. He has forgotten that he knew her before as a childhood enemy/friend who used to be very fat.

While…Poom on the other hand, deeply remembers that Neung used to bully her when they were young. So, she really does not like him.

But, when they must dance together at the party, Poom runs away. This makes Neung angry and embarrassed. So, he keeps picking fights with her nonstop.

And I will leave it at this…as this is the start of Poom and Neung’s love story…

Moving on now with my actual review of Neung Nai Suang

Anyways…

Here it goes…

First off, Neung Nai Suang has two versions… The 2005 version and the 2016 version. I watched the 2016 Ngao Asoke version with Jirayu Tangsrisuk and Urassaya Sperbund….

Also, as I mentioned before, Neung Nai Suang is also known as Means “Only You in My Heart” or “One in My Heart.”…

I will try not to expound too much and will keeps this as short as I possibly can, so I will not spoil anything even though I most likely did in summary recap of this report…

Anyways…

Neung Nai Suang is such an interesting and somewhat well-thought out Thai drama in my opinion!

It brought many emotions out of me…. I was happy, then irritated, sad, disappointed, then amused, then giddy, then annoyed, angry, then giddy again! Oh my!..It was almost a roller coaster…but not exactly…because it was manageable…especially since there weren’t too many antagonists in the story…

Anyways…

I found Neung Nai Suang interesting because of how the writers has blended in a couple of themes to tell the story…

Such as the concept of…

Love-Hate Relationships…

Teasing versus Bullying…

Love versus Hate…

Love versus Rumors…

Love versus Trust…

Love versus Money…

Marriage of Convenience…

Marriage to Avoid Scandal…

Childhood Enemies Turned in Lovers…

Like I said, I found it interesting how the writers has blended in these themes in Neung Nai Suang

For now, I want to mention what I was not fond of…

Like mentioned back in my earlier Thai drama reviews…specifically…Hua Jai Sila, which is an awesome drama by the way! Hands down!

Anyways…that main thing, I was not fond of which is the only downside for me even though I know Neung Nai Suang is considered a Slap Kiss drama… I am not fond of the man handling, the grabbing and aggressive actions made by the male leads upon the female leads…which I notice in the lakorns I’ve watched so far…  Not trying to be offensive but that part just makes me uncomfortable… I know for sure that I will likely never get used that! It is a con for me.

I don’t approve of manhandling but despite that, I do like Thai dramas and will continue to like them, I know for sure that will not change…will expound more later…

But back to my review…I got to say…the chemistry between the main leads… Yaya and James Jirayu is undeniable! As respectively Poom and Neung…Very intense! The banter between them was fun, amusing to watch but also quite steamy because you can feel the tension between them… The growing attraction they have for eachother or at least the attraction they do not want to admit they have for one another.

Only thing I had a problem with is that sometimes their banter turns into intense childish fights, because hey! They are childhood enemies! Childhood enemies who won’t admit that they are in love with eachother!

But like I mentioned, it is pretty clear they had attraction and cared about each other, but they are too immature and filled with pride to be honest and effectively communicate their feelings. Also, because of their past as enemies and how others perceive the other, they have their own prejudice against eachother. And because of that they end up fighting leading to a mixture of misunderstandings or some level of progress on their relationship. But both are too proud and stubborn…so sometimes the misunderstandings and angst drag on between them. Though I liked that most of the time, Neung was the one who would gives in to Poom.

But even so, I so love this pair-up! Yaya and James Jirayu!

On the others…I felt the supporting and minor characters did well in their roles whether they are there to guide the main leads or give them trouble…

I so dislike SongSaeng…scheming, so full of herself and so misguided by her mother, Khun Nai Sisuk.

While the mother of Pannee and Pinit, Khun Nai Nuan…she is too much and so judgemental.

As for Pu and Paen, Poom’s adopted siblings they are awesome!

Now, I will continue with a factor that gets to me…

On with the theme of Teasing vs Bullying…

Honestly it is not really mentioned but it is kind of implied or from what I see by the way Anawat treats Poom in the past and present before changing for the better once he realized he was in love with Poom…  And this has a lot to do with why, Poom did NOT give in to Anawat easily and gave him a hard time before finally admitting she loves him…

Is the “Bullying” which is continuously mentioned as “Teasing” in the drama…

All the mentions that Poom used to be fat, she is adopted, she has too many guy friends, she has many lovers, she has lowly status…whether by Anawat and other characters…

That sounds like a lot of bullying to me. A much harsher level of teasing, but it is still bullying. Bullying someone with what hurts them the most and making them feel bad about themselves. Teasing to me is more of making fun of someone, playing around but nothing harsh or malicious. But then again, this is my opinion what is teasing and bullying.

Anyways, like I said, it is not surprising that Poom did not believe Anawat right away and gave him such a hard time before admitting that she loves him…

Anyways…

What I like about Lakorns I’ve watched so far…Hua Jai Sila, Happy Birthday, Bai Mai Tee Plid Plew, The Judgement, Leh Ratree….and now  The writers of lakorns, ability to use complex storyline and themes that can be quite controversial or complicated but still well executed and can bring a roller coaster of emotions to you! And this in why I will continue to like Thai dramas / lakorns despite disliking the manhandling in them… Of course, I don’t approve of manhandling…but despite that I will continue liking Thai dramas!

Anyways, like Leh Ratree 2015 and Ngao Asoke …. Neung Nai Suang  with Jirayu Tangsrisuk and Urassaya Sperbund is an awesome Thai lakorn!  If available somewhere I would try to see the 2005 version… But for now, I recommend you all to check out Neung Nai Suang 2015 which is definitely high on my recommend list!
