Either way I apologize for being behind schedule on posting this review. But on the bright side, I was able to touch this up …  To make sure I give all of my thoughts on this…especially since this is the first Japanese series review I am posting especially for this New Year…2021…and one of my last review for the month of January!!!

Alice In Borderland S1 Japanese Series Review

Disclaimer: Pictures of the show, cast are not mine. And just add, info on the cast I got from Wikipedia, MyDramaList and Asian wiki.  By the way, just to sneak in, you can find this Japanese series on Netflix

First off… please do not take what I say seriously… just with a grain of salt, like with music. I do not have a professional degree in film, literature, and television… But I so LOVE movies books and tv shows, most especially if they capture my interest somehow. Peace out! LOL!

Despite the lack of degree on this area, I will still do this review as a tv series lover! And just to clarify too, I apologize in advance for any run-ons with my words or have any grammatical errors… But I will be honest about my thoughts and feelings in this review.

Anyways…

First off. Alice In Borderland   Is not for kids! Awesome show and season so far, but definitely not for kids!

Moving on…

I will talk a bit about the main actors and their characters of the main plot of Alice In Borderland… Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya…

Kento Yamazaki is a Japanese actor and model. He is best know for his role as L in the manga turned live-action adaptation 2015 television series Death Note.

In  Alice In Borderland, Kento Yamazaki playes Ryohei Arisu, who is a 24 year old video game obsessed man who “doesn’t fit in with his family”. In the series, he has a father who despises him for not having a job like his brother. He specializes in the games of Hearts, described as the games of betrayal.

Tao Tsuchiya is Japanese actress, model and dancer.

In  Alice In Borderland, Tao Tsuchiya plays Yuzuha Usagi, who is a mountain climber who was transported into the empty city of Tokyo shortly after the death of her father who she deeply respected. She specializes in games of Spades, and she’d teamed up with Arisu shorty after the deaths of his friends.

Moving on…

Since this is a summary of the plot…there will definitely be spoilers so if you are interested in this series, haven’t watch it yet and don’t want to be spoiled…scroll down to my overall review…LOL…Peace!

Anyways back with the short summary of the beginning Alice In Borderland

The story starts of with a trio of high school friend who are bored and dealing with their own issues in their current life…

The main focus though is on Arisu who is a 24 year old video game obsessed man who “doesn’t fit in with his family”. In the series, he has a father who despises him for not having a job like his brother.  After being shunned by his brother and father for not having a job, he runs off and meets up with friends…Karube and Chota…. Karube was just fired from his job. While Chota, decides to skip work so they can meet up and caused a slight disturbance that ended with them being chased by the police in an nearby building and hide for a while in an empty public bathroom.

The Trio…Arisu, Chota and Karube soon find themselves lost in abandoned Tokyo…

The trio tries to find other people and not long after they a greeted with the notice welcoming them to the game…

Upon seeing a lighted area, drawn by it and getting a building where they run into a woman who tells them that they entered their game also showed them ones they enter the game border they cannot leave once they enter or else, they will die… So, they have no choice but to participate in the game…

And the trio will soon learn that the abandoned Tokyo known is as “Borderland”, a seemingly post-apocalyptic-like parallel where they must play live-or-die games in order to survive which will not only test them mentally and physically but also emotionally…especially in the game of Hearts where only one is to survive…and that is Arisu…

After losing his friends Karube and Chota, Arisu meets Usagi once again… another participant whom he and his friends played a pervious game with…

With the loss of his friends, Usagi who becomes Arisu’s ally and partner in the games…

From there, their survival story begins…

Finally, I will talk about my thoughts and overall review of Alice In Borderland Season One

First of Alice In Borderland  is based on a Japanese suspense manga of the same name illustrated and written by Haro Aso. Alice In Borderland  also has Original video Animation aka OVA.

Anyways, this live-action Alice In Borderland  tv series was recently released with the 1st season and 8 episodes this past December 2020…

Anyways, I will know officially start my actual review but I will apologize because this will be somewhat short and also since this likely an ongoing series is only up to season one so far, I will be as honest as possible in my review and not to give too much away…

This Japanese series is awesome! It makes me want to read the manga, which I do plan to at some point. I am curious to know what stayed the same in the series from the original manga and what was portrayed differently.

I find it interesting that each games the participates in is determined by playing cards and each suit denotes the game genre….a Diamond is a game focused on wit, a Clubs is game focused on collaboration, a Spades is focus on physical and lastly Hearts is a psychological game…

One thing for sure, I am sure, no one would want be lost is parallel world where they have participate in any life or death games!

And I thought that Hunger Games and Maze Runner was crazy…. Don’t get me wrong those two is awesome with interesting and completely different storylines and unique takes in live or death survival games but I feel that Alice in Borderland takes the cake!

It is more interesting storyline but very psychological… You can’t help but feel participates especially the main leads Arisu and Usagi… They just want to survive and not deal with complications along the way like halfway through the season, which I will not expound too much on…

This show is interesting, mind-blowing and keeps you on your toes. I enjoy the fact that there is some problem solving even though, the games either result in live or death….

Really enjoyed this show. It is just not kid friendly and has some sexual themes, lots of blood spilled and death. So make sure, if your have kids and young siblings…please make sure you don’t watch this show when they are around.

Anyways, I will leave it up to here so that I will not spoil any more then I already have…

Overall, I thought this series was amazing! It is worth the watch and if you are interested in checking it out, it is available on Netflix!!! AND I am totally excited that Season Two is in the works!!!

Also because of this live TV version, it makes me want to check out the manga and OVA version! If I can find them, I definitely will 😁

Anyways, I highly recommend the live version TV series Alice In Borderland, it is awesome!

Anyways if you made it up to here… Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review of season one of the Japanese TV series Alice In Borderland!

I cannot wait for season 2, which I heard will be release this year…2021. I just don’t recall when…

Hopefully, this review builds your curiosity in checking out this awesome Japanese series especially the manga its based on!

Once again… Alice In Borderland can be watched on Netflix!
